Brian Martin

Pastor/Elder

Brian Martin of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, was officially ordained as pastor of Sonship Ministries on Sunday, April 26, 2009.  Brian has been licensed as a minister of the gospel since December 2007. He attended a church planting program at Redeemer Church Planting Center in Manhattan in 2008 and was mentored by the leadership team of Grace Fellowship Church in Queens. In May 2008, he started a new church in Bay Ridge, Sonship Ministries, a ministry that is focused on teaching the Bible, discipleship, and loving and meeting people wherever they are in life.  His call and preparation for the ministry of the gospel arose from his 14 years of leading a men’s Bible study, which continues to meet on Monday evenings at the Salvation Army in Bay Ridge.  Brian has extensive training in martial arts and physical fitness and has been a personal trainer for the past 19 years at the Harbor Fitness Center. He and his wife Teri reside in Bay Ridge.

John Verdi

Pastor/Elder

John Verdi has been teaching God’s Word for 30 years in home bible study groups, prayer meetings, youth fellowships and church services.  He has a deep passion to see God’s people grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures.  His own studies include that of the modern-day, as well as the centuries-old reformed biblical scholars.  He currently serves as an Elder at Sonship, at times occupying the pulpit at Sunday service, and teaches the weekly adult Sunday school class.   John is also a drummer, who has ministered with various worship teams and as part of a Christian outreach band.  He has a son, a daughter and a stepdaughter. He and his wife Kim reside in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Pat McEvoy

Pat McEvoy has served under Brian Martin in the Monday night men’s ministry since its inception in 1996. He has also served in various roles for Sonship Ministry since its beginning in May 2008. Pat is the father of two sons, Bryan and Steven. Pat is a Captain in the F.D.N.Y. and a lifelong Bay Ridge resident.

Kim Verdi

Minister of Music

Kim began playing the piano and singing at age 7. At age 33, when she gave her life to God, she dedicated her music abilities to Him and has been a member of a worship team for church services, prayer meetings, outreaches and home groups ever since. She has also been involved in many church choir productions. Kim’s passion is for evangelistic corporate worship, including a great love for the old hymns that vividly express the sound doctrines of the gospel. Kim also teaches our women’s bible study in her home. Her husband John is a pastor and elder at Sonship.
